MathPad Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

This policy explains how the MathPad app (“MathPad,” “the app,” “we,” “us”), published by Benjamin Majkut, handles your information. By using MathPad you agree to the practices described here.

The short version

MathPad is a calculator and math notepad. You can type math or use your camera to take a picture of handwritten work and have MathPad read and check it. Photos you take are sent to Google’s Gemini API to read the math; we don’t store them on our servers. Notes you type stay on your device. Our servers (on Cloudflare) track only how many checks you have left and whether your subscription is active. We don’t require an account, we don’t show ads, and we don’t sell your data.

Data we collect

Content you type. Expressions, notes, and documents you enter stay on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, iOS may back them up or sync them across your devices through your own Apple account; we never receive that data or have access to it.

Photos you capture (camera). When you run a photo check, MathPad uses the camera to capture a single image and sends it to Google’s Gemini API, which reads and checks the math it contains and returns the result. We do not store the image on our servers after the check; a copy remains on your device, and you can delete it in the app at any time. Google processes the image under its own terms — see the Google Privacy Policy and Gemini API Additional Terms. MathPad does not read your photo library and does not capture video or audio. Please keep faces, names, and other personal details out of frame.

Usage and subscription data. To meter the 100-checks purchase and keep subscription access in sync, our servers record a per-install identifier, your remaining check count, and your subscription status, along with basic request information (IP address, timestamp, app version) when the app contacts our servers.

Purchases. MathPad offers a one-time purchase of 100 checks ($2.99) and an auto-renewing monthly subscription ($4.99). All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive Apple’s standard transaction and subscription-status records (that a purchase or renewal occurred, and whether a subscription is active) but never your payment card or billing details.

Diagnostics. If you opt in when iOS asks, Apple shares anonymized crash and performance reports with us through App Store Connect. MathPad includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.

We do not collect your name, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and MathPad contains no third-party ad networks or trackers.

How we use information

  • Send the photo you capture to Google’s Gemini API to read and check the math, and show you the result
  • Meter check credits and keep your subscription access current
  • Diagnose crashes and keep the service running

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

Sharing

We do not share your information with third parties except:

  • Apple — distributes the app, processes purchases, and (if you enable it) provides iCloud sync and diagnostics. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
  • Google — the photos you submit are sent to Google’s Gemini API to recognize and check the math in them. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare — our hosting and database provider, which stores the check-metering and subscription records on our behalf.
  • When required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Data retention and deletion

Your notes and photos live on your device: delete them in the app, or delete the app to remove its local data. iCloud-synced copies are managed in your Apple account’s iCloud settings. Photos sent to Google for a check are not stored on our servers; Google handles them under its own terms. If you want the check-metering and subscription data removed from our servers, email bmajkut9@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.
